One of the hottest young bands around, a blisteringly entertaining debut by the Hastings rock/punk trio, with snarling vocals, stormy guitars, bass and explosive drumming by Tallulah Sim-Savage, Lola Sam and Alfie Sayers. Their ferocious, swaggering, unruly sound is captured with panache by producers Catherine Marks, Steph Marziano and Stella Mozgawa and is packed with dynamic energy, attitude and echoes of Yeah Yeahs Yeahs back to 90s grunge and indie, as well as dose of glam. There’s no shortage of musical prowess as well as searing style, from opener She’s Got A Problem to Wanna Be A Doll, Strange To Be Here to the pulsating One More Reason. In Her Bedroom moves in pace between anarchic energy to menacing passions gone wrong, Chip My Teeth an echoey Nirvana darkness, and closer Pharmacy sounds becalmed with some acoustic guitar, but, as the lyric contradicts: “I cannot take this softly.” Return back to the excellent fourth track Hard Goodbye then, another fizzling, fuzz-riffing highlight. Out on Marathon Artists.
