It can be unbearable when the weather is hot and you just can not get cool. Seeking refreshment or a way to cool down becomes the only thing we think of.
Of course getting yourself soaked in cool water is one of the best ways to cool down and that is what J. Walter Negro & the Loose Jointz are doing when they Shoot The Pump, but sometimes as !!! (Chk Chk Chk) warn us Even When The Water’s Cold it still might take more to fully refresh us.
When that is the case then a nice cool glass of lemonade might be perfect! And like Garolou we might actually be so happy we would even do La Danse de la Limonade!
Sometimes we just wish for a change in the weather to change how we feel and this is what Wreckless Eric is hoping for in Wish It Would Rain.
Sometimes the presence of the one we love can have a refreshing effect and this is described by Kieran Kane in Cool Me Down.
There were a lot of nominations this week praising the power of a cooling breeze. Main Ingredient with Summer Breeze and the fabulous Gabor Szabo with Breezin' were my favourites, and where better to enjoy the breeze than in the park and The Zombies chilling out in Beechwood Park?
The Beach Boys are of course the definition of cool (on the beach that is)! But it was the water chant in the middle of Cool Cool Water that made this track stand out for me.
Of course part of remaining correctly hydrated is to ensure you take enough minerals to keep your body in balance and east coast indie rockers Pavement remind us of this in Summer Babe (Winter Version).
Finally the best place to be on hot day is in a forest. The shade and breeze in forests are special and the living trees sucking the water from the ground and evaporating it from their leaves is actually like nature’s air conditioning. The last two tracks are about the shade and wind in forests, and Wilco with Muzzle of Bees and Cheryl Wheeler with Grey and Green evoke this perfectly!
