A mesmeric spread of instruments stir this potent cauldron of a new single by the London band of “flowerkraut”, a hedonistic, brain-frying feast of krautrock, art-pop and psychedelia, here inspired by the 11th-century Norse ruler of Britain. It’s released on the cult indie label Tip Top Recordings (Japanese Television). The story is based on how Cnut apparently tested his power by setting his throne on the shore and attempting to push back the incoming tides. Of course, the waters ignored his commands and continued to rise around his feet. “Let all the world know that the power of kings is empty and worthless!” he cried.
We’re all, of course, vulnerable to the movement of tides and the whims of careless, egotistical rulers. This is follow-up single Charlie’s Comet. To explore and enjoy more by the time-bending Mandrake Handshake, see also the other embedded links below.
You never did it right
Shut out the light
Kept out of sight
I’m seeing your web of lies
Your flimsy disguise
put me at ease
Yes please
I'm losing direction
With introspection
Disconnection
In This situation
Alienation
Fleeting delights
I'm alright
Why not burn down to ashes
All you fascists
All you punks
Give me apocalypse
Bloody eclipse
stop all your noise
Foolish boy
