The day after Article 50 was signed for Brexit, and everything before, and for who knows what is to come, how best to comment with music? From another place entirely removed outside and away from Britain's place in Europe may be the most appropriate. So today’s choice is by a Texas-born gospel, soul and blues singer, full name Caron Nimoy "Sugaray" Rayford (born 1969), an artist who is vastly underrated, and released this song on his eponymous, self-published album of 2010, and two further albums on other labels since. Here we check out a live performance in Guyancourt in 2015. Sung by a big man with a big voice, these lyrics, though they might here be about a strange date and night out, but also just about describe any number of situations, including Britain’s political one, very well indeed:
“Going down a blind alley,
I didn’t know what I was getting into.”
