Slow, sensual, simmering, lingeringly beautiful numbers in this debut LP of experimental, ambient, will-o'-the-wisp dream-like quality by the Los Angeles multi-instrumentalist, composer, singer and harpist with Belize ancestry. This is very much late-night or gentle walk-in-the-woods music, one to slow the heartbeat and still the mind. It builds on previous EPs Spells, and Quietude. Ghostly and hard to grasp at first, it takes a song or two to immerse and adjust to her mystical, psychedelic dream-poem landscape, so this is very much best as a full-album listen, Hunter’s voice hovers and holds, a variety of instruments simmering and shimmering, from piano to gentle percussion, sighing synths, subtle guitars and the Celtic harp (borrowed during a visit the the UK coast and meeting the album’s London-based producer Cicely Goulder). Standouts include the title track, Bleed, OOO, Cloudbreath, Strange Delights, Finding Mirrors and closing number Into The Sun. Otherworldly, ghostly, and ambiently alluring. Out on Fat Possum.
