After various singles and EPs, the debut LP by the Mancunian rapper and poet with a Nigerian heritage is a punchy, powerful release fuelled by female empowerment, mixing hip-hop, drum’n’bass, afro-trap, and afrobeats, heralding one of the most charismatic British hip-hop artists since Little Simz. Opener Let Me In is the instant standout, and much of the album referencing is a celebration of “pussy power” (see also her unapologetic 2023 EP Pussy Power, from Major Pay to The Formula to Over My Dead Body, in which women are constantlhy reminded of their potential, such as on Set It Off, encouraging them to “not edit the image” and “just be you and just kill it”. Other standouts include The Plug (ft. Superlative & Miss Stylie), Sometimes (ft. Ace Clvrk), another drum’n’bassy number - Leader. An infectious, unstoppable presence, energetic and nasally magnetic. Out on Heavenly Recordings.
