A highbrow title heralds mischievously delightful collection of extremely catchy but deliberately silly songs filled with trivial observations in this third indie garage fuzz pop-rock LP by the Welsh trio fronted by Sam Willmett (vocals/guitar) and Tilly Harris (vocals/bass). Whimsy marries with utter fun from start to finish Modern Lovers and Half Man Half Biscuit and Lovely Eggs-style playfulness, with a fast-and-furious half-hour. Highlights include the frenetic postpunk single Quality Pints – an ironic tribute to the real ale enthusiast, the meta-song Pop Single, the random list and self-delusional songs A Bit Like James Bond, the throwaway details of We Don’t Care About That, and a tribute to “the worst footwear in Britain” - Lonsdale Slippers. There’s some slightly more serious sentiments in Actual Pain and Cold. Hard. Love., but this is also all sheer joy and non-stop bangers, particularly enjoyable when seen live. Out on Sub Pop.
