The veteran dance music and ambient noise duo still with co-founder Alex Paterson return with a vibrant release of cosmic electronica, dub and reggae, house, drum n’ bass, guest vocalists plus newscaster and other sampled voices. The closing title track opens with descriptions of American chess champion Bobby Fisher taking on the Russians and Iceland, before moving into shape-shifting ambience. A Ghetto Love Story, Picking Tea-Leaves & Chasing Butterflies, and Tiger, are three solid upbeat reggae tracks, but the standouts are the high octane electro-dance H.O.M.E (High Orbs Mini Earths) and the drum ‘n’ bass (and much more) on the mischievously titled Why Can You Be in Two Places at Once, When You Can't Be Anywhere at All..." (Where's Gary's Mix), and particularly the Living In Recycled Times, a topical number with guest vocalist Rachel D’arcy. Alongside newer core member Michael Rendall (Jimmy Cauty was the other co-founder), other guest contributions include Youth, Violeta Vicci, Gaudi, David Harrow, Leandro Fresco, Jono Podmore and David Lofts, Eric Von Skywalker, and Andy Cain. Restless, creative, and enjoyably energised. Out on Cooking Vinyl.
