Timeless soul and funk, stripped back with a fragile, beautiful melody, from the mysterious band who last year released two stunning albums titled 5 and 7, and now an untitled LP with powerful Black Lives Matter theme.
Who are Sault? Rumours around say it could involve British soul singer Cleo Sol who is signed to Sault’s label Forever Living Originals, and has the hallmarks of London-based musician called Dean Josiah who has worked with Michael Kiwanuka, but the mystery is part of the appeal. Clearly the music and songwriting are the priority, and that is very much of the highest quality, reminiscent of 1970s Marvin Gaye, and Gnarls Barkley, the project involving Cee Lo Green and Danger Mouse. More of Sault’s work can be found here, or on their website.
Thief in the night
Tell the truth
White lives
Spreading lies
You should be ashamed
The bloodshed on your hands
Another man
Take off your badge
We all know it was murder
Murder, murder
Murder
We are dying, it's the reason we are crying
We are crying
But we will never show fear
Even in my eyes
I will always rise
In wildfires
I ain't never been scared
Even through my tears
I will always care
In wildfires
But we will never show fear
Even in my eyes
I will always rise
In wildfires
I ain't never been scared
Even through my tears
I will always care
In wildfires
